SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ARTISTS Project 2018

Writer: artcraftlivingartcraftliving

In an exciting, varied event on April 20, 2018 in the GRACE DENKER GALLERY, young artists from Hamburg will present their works and thus have the opportunity to approach the professional field of art and to exchange ideas with like-minded people and to receive feedback. In an area such as art that is difficult to access, it is important to pay attention to young, local up-and-coming artists and that is exactly what the SYLA project aims to do.

A wide variety of techniques, motifs and approaches will be on display - five characters who all have their own vision and motivation, but what they have in common is their passion for creativity, for art. It doesn't matter whether they are art students, amateur painters or professional illustrators: there is room for everyone in the SYLA Project 2018. Read more about the five exhibitors here.

Maria Schmuck: Under the motto "go with the flow," Maria Schmuck creates small and large portals out of reality. She mainly uses acrylic and spray paints, but also likes to use ink, napkins and textiles, as well as solvents. "My goal is for the color flows to merge into one another, layer over layer, for them to find their own way. For me, it's literally about going with the flow, just like you should in real life."

Alexander Rubzow: The freelance illustrator from Hamburg mainly draws digitally, but occasionally creates pictures using watercolor, gouache and oil crayon. People are his favorite subject because they never stop influencing and inspiring him. "As far as I can remember, I always had a pen in my hand. Computer games etc. never interested me, which is why I preferred to create my own worlds or simply put the world around me on paper."

Olesja Reiser: The lawyer is currently studying communication design at the DFI Hamburg. As a child and adolescent, Olesja Reiser learned classic painting techniques, but over time her style became more experimental. In addition to the digital drawings for her studies, analogue drawing complements her learning and brings new motivation and inspiration.

Vivian Hoyer: Instead of fine art, Vivian Hoyer decided to study German and English literature and found her calling in it. Nevertheless, fine art is and remains her passion and her favorite source of inspiration. "I paint completely without a plan. When I sit in front of a blank canvas, I rarely have a motif in mind. I just do what feels right."

Paula Doerksen: Paula Doerksen spent a long time preparing to apply for the illustration course. However, the rejection did not dampen her passion. She paints impulsive pictures on paper using acrylic and watercolor paints. From time to time she also likes to pick up a pencil, observes her surroundings and makes sketches of them, always working through inner conflicts in the process.
